The film Deconstructing Dad The Music, Machines & Mystery of Raymond Scott, by Stan Warnow, is a comprehensive, biographical exploration of the life of Stan’s father, musician/inventor Raymond Scott. Swing music, music for film, cartoons, records, TV and radio—Raymond Scott created all this and much more in a career that spanned most of the 20th century. Most pertinent to the festival is his status as an electronic production icon. As early as the 1930s, he was manipulating sound electronically and in 1946 he created Manhattan Research, which manufactured instruments like the “keyboard theremin” and “circle generators.” An extraordinary examination of an extraordinary life. all ages/free. berklee.edu]
